Hole 1
Playing this 469 from the back tee, the first hole is a challenging start to this championship course. It will require a positioned tee shot on this slight dog legged left opening hole.
The kidney shaped green, protected by a strategically placed bunker, requires a skilled approach shot.

Hole 3
The first par 5 on the front, at 549 yards this tester will require three well positioned shots to find your way to this green which is tucked into the tree line on the left hand side of the fairway. Your tee shot must stay right of the deep bunker on the left side of the fairway. Long hitters can go for it in two. Others should lay-up to the right side for the best angle to the green. Note the pin position on this two tiered green when setting up your approach.

Hole 4
This superb par 4 demands two excellent shots. Hit a strong tee shot to the right side of the fairway, utilizing the right to left slope. Use a long iron or fairway wood on the second shot to reach this slightly elevated green. Par is a good score here.

Hole 5
This is the 600 yard signature hole of GCNE. The longest hole on the course will not only put a premium on distance, but will also require accuracy to a fairway pinched by bunkers and water. A risk / reward second shot for long hitters, and a true three shot par 5 for the average player. A well-guarded shallow green will require proper distance control.

Hole 6
The intimidating tee shot will have to carry the water hazard that runs from tee to green. There is bail out left on this hole. A green sloping from back right to front left will make pin placement something to watch for off the tee.

A drive to the left side of the fairway will avoid the right side bunker. A mid iron approach remains to reach this green. An extra club would be advised to get back to the rear pin placement.

Hole 8
This hole defines "all carry." Club selection is the key here. A par 3 with marsh short of the green, long is a good play to insure disaster does not strike.

Hole 9
On this downhill dog-legged right, the tee shot should favor the left center of the fairway to open up the green on your approach shot. Club selection to this green may vary significantly as a result of the prevailing winds and the depth of the green.

Hole 10
The start of the inward nine demands a well-placed tee shot down the left center of the fairway. Playing up hill, your lay-up will have to find its way to the fairway between fairway bunkers guarding both the left and right sides. A narrow green will demand a player to play the green side to avoid the collection areas near the green's edge.

Hole 11
A downhill tee shot to a generous landing area short of a marsh brook sets up your approach to this small sloped green. Playing only 377 yards, the 11th hole will be a player's first hole of the back nine to be aggressive.

Play your tee shot down any portion of the left side of the fairway and this sloped fairway will kick your ball back to the center. With a bunker guarding the right hand side of this shallow green, distance control will be a must to keep the ball near the pin.

Hole 13
Don't let the 394 yard fool you into relaxing on this tee. A curved fairway and bunkers make placement, not distance, your concern. A downhill second shot to a green framed on the left by the Winnicutt River, your approach will need to get at the tough back left pin placement.

Hole 14
Playing uphill, this par 3 is framed by the Winnicutt River along the entire side. The large exposed green is subject to swirling winds making club selection paramount. Use of the slope on the right will kick the ball onto this extremely undulated challenging green.

Hole 15
Playing back towards Beech Hill to a right to left sloped fairway, a tee shot in the fairway will filter to the left side setting up a good position for your lay-up shot. The 15th green is guarded on both sides by water, causing a player to "thread the needle" to get the ball close to the pin.

Taking your eyes off the view across the pond to the clubhouse will not be easy. Once you do, you will see the Winnicutt River in front and down the left side of the hole. A tee shot placed on the right side of the fairway will leave a good angle into this green. Small but angled, this green will hold a well-struck approach.

The signature par 3 at GCNE has a pond in front and extensive sand bunkers behind. Accuracy will pay dividends as players approach this kidney shaped putting surface. A bail out area to the right is the only area to save an errant shot.
